E-mail message sends message
that "this tea ain't sweet"

(Editor's Note: this article came in prior to the U.S. bombing and before the nation started dropping food packets in Afghanistan.)

LAWRENCEVILLE -- I recently received a petition via e-mail encouraging me to dissuade President Bush from taking military action against Afghanistan. The petition declares that America should "do something DIFFERENT," by "building bridges of love, respect and understanding" instead of responding with bombs.

"Somethin' in the tea ain't sweet here!"

For example, Einstein has been severely misquoted: "The significant problems we face can never be solved at the level of thinking that created them."

Let's not confuse "retaliating with violence" with "defending our freedoms!" Going to war is NOT the "same level of thinking" as terrorism. After all, terrorism is non-negotiable!

Secondly, the message tries to convince readers that over 80 per cent of Americans "want restraint." Yet every poll I've seen indicates that over 90 per cent of Americans want military response to this incident. Sounds like a "numbers game" to me!

This message goes on to attempt to tug at our hearts and our purse strings by telling us that we should send food, clothing and medical supplies to Afghanistan. It's sure to "cost less than conventional arms and poses no threat of U.S. casualties."

Wake up, America! Afghanistan has already bitten the hand that feeds her! It's NOT our responsibility to "offer the Afghani people the vision of a new future" when they're playing games with us.

The Afghanistan government has been asked to turn Osama bin Laden over to the proper authorities. The Taliban refuses to give up "one" to save thousands. Failure to comply is a choice that is clearly THEIRS!

I encourage all Americans to think of the service the military gives the next time yet another body bag emerges from the guts of the World Trade Center! Our nation should support the brave men and women of our Armed Services. I pray that our military forces will succeed in defeating the terrorist regime of the Al-Queda and their leader, Osama bin Laden.

This is indeed America's war...not just the U.S. military's war. It's past time for EVERYONE to make an effort to truly understand how the military really operates instead of "speculating" as civilians. We must "arm" ourselves with knowledge and get out of the "fuzzy-wuzzy" DARK!
