Two Gwinnett homebuilders team up
to give new home to Rainbow Village

SNELLVILLE, JULY 12, 2002 - - Two local firms have teamed up to "hammer it out" for Rainbow Village of Norcross. David Weekley Homes and Waterford Homes have joined to complete a residence in Snellville for the non-profit Rainbow Village. It provides homeless families and their children a safe place to live.

Assistance from local building suppliers helped make this project possible. The land was donated to Rainbow Village by Waterford Homes.

The Rainbow Village organization selected one of its graduates, along with her three children from the program, to live in the home built by Weekley on the
lot donated by Waterford Homes.

The new resident will reside in the three bedroom, two-bath house for approximately one year, allowing her time to save money so she can purchase a home of her own. At the end of her residence, she will mentor a new graduate of Rainbow Village who will then live in the home for a similar period of time.

The David Weekley team chose the Rainbow Village Inc. as its outreach program to the community this year. Over a three-week period, the David Weekley employees volunteered their time in construction of the house.

Jon Calbert, Atlanta Division president of David Weekley Homes, says: "There was a job for everyone in the division, from framing, hanging windows and doors and painting walls. It was fun and rewarding to work together on the project as a team."

One of country's largest privately held homebuilders, David Weekley Homes has built over 32,000 houses since 1976. Currently building in 14 cities, David Weekley Homes entered the Atlanta market in 1998.

When Waterford Homes, Inc. President David Clough was presented the opportunity to join forces with his long time business associate, Jon Calbert of David Weekley Homes for Rainbow Village, Inc., it didn't take long to jump onto the band wagon.

Mr. Clough said: "We build many new homes in Gwinnett County, and we realized this project was truly a community-based way we could get involved in the community in which we work.

"Because Rainbow Village, Inc. represents everything that Waterford Homes believes strongly in; providing safe and sound housing, and helping to promote a sense of confidence in people, it was a likely alliance. Waterford Homes is honored to contribute to the efforts being put forth by Rainbow Village."

Waterford Homes is an award-winning builder, and is dedicated to providing a distinctive blend of architectural design and superior craftsmanship that not only meets, but also exceeds, the expectations of its home buyers.

Nancy Yancey, executive director of Rainbow Village, said of the turn of events: "The beautiful home given to Rainbow Village will serve many single parents and their children. The parent selected initially will begin working with a Realtor immediately in order to establish financial goals for her own home purchase.

"Many hard working and deserving families will be blessed as a result of the David Weekley Home. Rainbow Village is grateful to David Weekley Homes, Waterford Homes and many others for their generous gifts of love, service and hospitality to others. Rainbow Village successfully assists families in becoming self-sufficient with the support of the larger community. Together we are making a difference!"

"As a citizen of Gwinnett, I feel that our parks need to have an extreme sport section. I sent an email below to many officials who may be able to help, but I was hoping you would circulate it to your readers, in order for me to gain more support in this quest."
