5/31: Says
there are three keys to Barnes' re-elections
Editor, the Forum:
Let me suggest that there are three keys to Barnes re-election:
1. Schrenko.
2. Byrne.
3. Perdue.
It's a cakewalk for Barnes!

5/31: Successful Relay
for Life says thanks
Editor, the Forum
On behalf of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life 2002
staff and volunteers, we would like to express our appreciation
for the community's support before, during, and after this year's
Relay for Life.
Once again your teamwork has exemplified the strong commitment
within Gwinnett County to make a difference in the fight against
cancer. The 1,200 survivors who led the first lap were an inspiration
to us all in their show of courage, hope, and determination to win
the battle.
We can all take pride in the partnerships that have developed between
various segments of our community in order to reach a common goal;
the eradication of cancer. We have been honored to represent our
community in this way and look forward to continuing our work with
future Relays.
-- Joslyn Bacalis and Nancy Stanbery-Kellam,
Co-Chairwomen, American Cancer Society's Relay For Life 2002
5/28: Another view
of Wright quote
Editor, the Forum:
Reference Friday's quote, of Mr. Wright said "TV is chewing
gum for the eyes." -- Frank Lloyd Wright (1869-1959): I once
heard the following: "If TV is chewing gum for the eyes, where
do you get cavities?"
-- John H. Thomas, Norcross, the fellow you hire to protect
you from those you elect.
(Editor's Note: Mr. Thomas is a lobbyist.)
5/24: Even with 9/11
in mind, economy pretty healthy
Editor, the Forum:
What is missing from most "economic analyses" of the
US economy is the understanding that most of the people in THIS
country spent much of their
time for three months following 9/11 watching the news rather than
working.
If one compares the actual national loss of productivity (sort
of like the figures associated with the first two days of the release
of "Episode 2: Attack of the Clones") with the slight
dip in the US economy in the third and fourth quarters, it is amazing
how healthy the US economy actually is.

5/14: Enjoyed story
about Jesse Long
Editor, the Forum:
Enjoyed that article on Jesse Long. Haven't seen him in a long
time. I remember when the school first started growing. He lived
across Indian Trail in an old house. The school owned all that land
across the road, about 125 acres. Indian Trail was two lanes. I
was building a road now known as Oakbrook Parkway and saw Jesse
often. That was a long time ago!!!
