NEWS BRIEFS: Lilburn plans 3-month moratorium on building in Old Town

The City of Lilburn is moving to impose a three-month moratorium on the acceptance of applications for new buildings, additions and developments in residentially zoned parcels within the “downtown character” area, namely historic Old Town.

 By Jenny Simpkins  |  What does it mean to say that the City of Lilburn has awakened?  For the Mayor and City Council, combined with like-minded stakeholders, it means the city has a focused vision, the wisdom to apply the right tools at the right time, values its partnerships and understands finite resources and finances.

BRACK: Lilburn artist, a “Wall Dog,” paints mural in Oregon

By Elliott Brack  |  A Lilburn artist is part of the team “The Wall Dogs,” an elite international group, which selects a town each year where they paint murals on walls of that town, transforming it beautifully.  He is Sonny Franks, who has produced two wall paintings in Lilburn, the “Lilburn Tunnel Bridge” on the Cofer building, and “Butterflies” on the Lilburn Park Rest Room.

This edition features a tour of the front and back yards of Sandy and Rick Krause of Lilburn. Their yard was used for a tour for the Gwinnett Master Gardeners in June.

Here’s the Little Free Library in Lilburn City Park at 76 Main Street.

The library was a Girl Scout Gold Award project by Jolee McManus and given to the City of Lilburn to have in its park.
