BRACK: Top officials predict what their city census count will be

APRIL 30, 2020  |  The 2020 Census state population figures were released this week, providing little information for us except which states gained and lost population. A more detailed and useful release of Census data will come in August, when we will know population figures down to cities and counties.

Emily was such an open and happy person, with a personality that attracted people.

BRACK: Fulton leads Georgia in population growth; Gwinnett ranks second

APRIL 6, 2018  | The big keep getting bigger.

That’s what the new Census Estimates of population growth tell us.  Big old Fulton County has beaten Gwinnett County in the actual number of new residents from one year to another for the second straight year.

By Elliott Brack | Years ago, while at the Gwinnett County printing plant of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, when occasionally guiding groups on plant tours in the news print storage area, often people would ask ”How much newsprint do you use?”

We had the answer. In those days, we used a lot of newsprint, as they do today.  But after a while, since people could not comprehend and interpret the fine points of usage, I would just say “Big number.”

BRACK: On Monday, Gwinnett County’s population will hit 900,000 residents

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | On Monday, April 18, 2016, Gwinnett County will welcome its 900,000th resident. Becoming the second most populated county in Georgia, it’s closing in on Fulton County, with 1,010,562 persons (2015). Experts say that eventually Gwinnett should be the most populated county in the state about 2030.
