BRACK: Exciting activities in Gwinnett cities with envisioning leaders

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | One of the bright areas in Gwinnett in 2017 is the tremendous vision, funding and activity going on in some of our cities.

Partially funded by the cities of Gwinnett’s greater share of SPLOST funds, but augmented by growth in city revenues, there is a feeling of bustle and movement in some of Gwinnett’s cities that is nothing less than exciting.

BRACK: Lilburn will be site of Gwinnett’s first distillery by January

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | By January, Gwinnett may have a distinctive new business venture up and running—-its first distillery.

Hope Springs Distillery in Lilburn is the concept of a Norcross couple who decided to “hire ourselves” when they were looking for something “legal to do” as they left full-time employment.

HOUSTON: Wants no part of that gator anywhere around Lilburn

By Debra Houston | A Gwinnett man found a five-foot alligator in his pond recently. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources sent out a specialist to investigate.

The agency thinks the animal came up the Yellow River, which is nearby. According to WSB-TV, the DNR may not do anything about it. The laid-back gator isn’t bothering a soul. Maybe he’ll just move on. Yes, but where?

BRACK: Lilburn resident wins council post with less than majority vote

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | There was one surprising vote from last week’s city elections in Gwinnett. One candidate, in Lilburn, went into office without a majority of the vote. He is Brian Burchik, who won a seat on the Lilburn Council with 48.1 percent of the vote. Lilburn, as far as we can tell, is the only city in Gwinnett where candidates can win an election with a plurality of the vote.
