NEWS BRIEFS: 12th PGA Tour of Champions set at Sugarloaf April 22-28

The Mitsubishi Electric Golf Classic returns to Sugarloaf Country Club on April 22-28 for the 12th year. Players on the PGA Tour of Champions will be present, such as Miguel Angel Jimenez, Stewart Cink, Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, Steve Stricker, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk.

BRACK: Handsome 5-story Baptist center on Sugarloaf could be razed

By Elliott Brack  |  The five-story stately building housing the Georgia Baptist Missions and Ministry Center at 6405 Sugarloaf Parkway may eventually be destroyed, as a developer wants to purchase the 43 acre property. However, for this to happen, the property must be rezoned. The property is now zoned for residential, office and general business use.

BRACK: Did you ever go looking for the town of Sugarloaf?

By Elliott Brack  |  A reader wrote in: “My husband and I have traveled Sugarloaf Parkway twice thinking it leads to a town with the same name.  Is there a Sugarloaf town? If not, then why is it called Sugarloaf?”

The short answer is: there is no town of Sugarloaf in Gwinnett.
