FOCUS: 14th Amendment already bans Trump from being president

By Raleigh Perry  |  A headline in the Aug. 17, 2023, in The Hill reads “The Constitution bars Trump from holding public office ever again.” This refers to an argument put forth in the previous week by William Baude, a professor of law at the University of Chicago and Michael Stokes Paulsen of the University of St. Thomas School of Law.  The argument refers to Section 3 of Amendment 14 in the Constitution.

BRACK: Trump is the poster child of trying to delay justice

By Elliott Brack  |  It was four-time British Prime Minister William Gladstone (1809-1898) who is credited with the phrase, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” In the modern day, that phrase was brought back to popularity by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his “Letter from Birmingham Jail”, smuggled out of prison in 1963.
