NEWS BRIEFS: GGC’s $3.7 million grant helps address teacher shortages

The School of Education at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) has been awarded a Teacher Quality Grant (TQG) from the U.S. Department of Education of more than $3.7 million, disbursed over five years. GGC is the only Georgia institution among 22 schools nationwide selected to receive this funding.

NEWS BRIEFS: Peachtree Corners homeowners get 15% cut on flood insurance

Residents of the City of Peachtree Corners will soon get a savings on their flood insurance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that the city’s Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS) has increased to a Class 7 rating, down from a Class 8 rating. That means  that residents will see a 15 percent  discount on their flood insurance premiums.

NEWS BRIEFS: Buford branding agency wins an award in communications 

A Buford women-owned, omni-channel branding firm has landed a 2022 Award of Excellence from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts’ Communicator Awards. The award came from their first jointly-written ebook entitled Unconventional Entrepreneurship.  The Edge Agency won this award out of over 4,000 entries from firms all around the world.

NEWS BRIEFS: PCOM to graduate 75 new master’s degree holders 

On Tuesday, July 26 at 11 a.m. 75 master’s degree students will graduate from PCOM Georgia, a health sciences university in Suwanee, at the Gas South District in Duluth. The graduates include 45 biomedical sciences students and 30 physician assistant students.

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) student Autumn Musgrave Burgess, 24, of Canton, says she could easily have wandered down a bad path. She grew up in Forsyth County, the child of separated parents and a survivor of an “adverse childhood,” a term referring to various types of abuse and neglect.
