NEWS BRIEF: GGC plans 4 new degrees for entertainment industry

Four new Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) degrees will prepare students for careers in the entertainment industry, such as film and TV production. Beginning fall semester 2022, GGC will offer nexus degrees in professional editing in film/television, motion picture set lighting, production for film and television, and production design. GGC began offering a degree in professional sound design for film and television in spring 2022.

NEWS BRIEFS: Braves’ World Series trophy coming twice to Coolray Field

The Gwinnett Stripers, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves, will welcome the 2021 World Series Trophy to Coolray Field for Opening Night on Tuesday, April 12. The 7:05 p.m. game vs. Nashville is an official part of the 151-stop Braves World Champions Trophy Tour presented by Truist, giving Stripers fans the opportunity to take a photo with the Commissioner’s Trophy.

FOCUS: How Russia’s invasion of Ukraine might impact the U.S.

By Dr. Dovile Budryte  |  One might think Ukraine is far removed from the United States. Ukraine, the second largest country in Eastern Europe, gained its independence in 1991 and is more than 5,500 miles or a nearly 12-hour flight from Atlanta. While the possibility of a Russian invasion of the country seems like it might not impact the U.S., the ramifications of such a move could very likely be felt locally.
