First, he has stated unequivocally that he does not want NATO very close to Russia. I do not have a problem with that request at all. We did not want Russia in Cuba and got them out.

Ukraine, the second largest country in Eastern Europe, gained its independence in 1991 and is more than 5,500 miles or a nearly 12-hour flight from Atlanta. While the possibility of a Russian invasion of the country seems like it might not impact the U.S., the ramifications of such a move could very likely be felt locally.
