By Elliott Brack  |  Gwinnett County’s economy is not a perpetual motion machine, though it seems to act like one. Gwinnett is unique because it constantly changes, and not just a little, but has been changing considerably since 1950 because of its continued population growth.

NEWS BRIEFS: Gwinnett Chamber backs 1 cent extension of sales tax

The Gwinnett Chamber has adopted a resolution to support the renewal of the county’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The 2023 SPLOST Referendum Resolution, presented by the organization’s Public Policy Committee, was unanimously adopted by the Board during its meeting this afternoon. The question will be voted on in the November election.

When Gwinnett County voters head to the polls during November’s General Election, they will decide on the renewal of the one-cent special purpose local option sales tax, or SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.)

BRACK: Democrats in Gwinnett ran much stronger than in years before

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | The United States is a great nation. It is resilient, and can survive Donald Trump. Be pleased and calmed knowing that.

The nation’s best period of government, it appears to us, is when Congress doesn’t necessarily rubber stamp everything the president sends forth. (The very best time we feel is when one House of Congress is of a different party than the president.) We suspect it won’t be long before the legislators find that they’ll need to limit the reach of the presidency. That would also have happened had another person been chosen to lead our country.

(By the way, October 15 is the deadline to pay the 2016 property taxes.)
