Elliott Brack’s Perspective
BRACK: Minority school board members seek Wilbanks’ termination
By Elliott Brack | Like a hand grenade about ready to explode, the minority members of the Gwinnett Board of Education are seeking to compel veteran School Superintendent Alvin Wilbanks to resign. A widely circulated petition entitled “Termination of Employment,” comes anonymously from “We, the concerned stakeholders of Gwinnett County Public Schools” to terminate Mr. Wilbanks’ contract.
BRACK: Updating our List of Continuing Objectives for Gwinnett County
JAN. 19, 2021 | A big” Hurrah!” for Gwinnett County. Two of GwinnettForum’s Continuing Objectives for Gwinnett County were achieved during 2020.
Gwinnett County took action in 2020 to ban all tobacco and vaping products from Gwinnett Parks. The outright ban will not only clean up our multi-layered park system, but it makes them healthier at the same time.
BRACK: 3 key issues will come before Georgia legislature this year
By Elliott Brack | Look out for at least three big issues to come before the Georgia Legislature this year.
The most important issue will be the reapportioning of the U.S. House of Representatives, and also both the Georgia Senate and House. That’s why this years’ Legislature will have more sway over our state than do most year’s terms as it determines voting districts. In effect, the Republican Party will have super influence for the next 10 years since the GOP will control how district lines are drawn.
BRACK: Wednesday’s insurrection threatened USA as never before
By Elliott Brack | Never before have I felt our United States and our democracy so threatened as I felt on Wednesday. The mobs attacking our Capitol were jeopardizing each of us and our sacred way of life, led by a deranged president who urged them on as if leading the charge, though he remained safely tucked in the White House. The fact that nearly half of the country voted for this lunatic really bothers me.
BRACK: Georgia has two Democratic senators for first time in years
By Elliott Brack | So now Georgia will be represented by two new Democratic senators? The voters of Georgia have not only picked senators from another party, but Georgia’s majority voters have changed the course of the United States, as these two newly-elected men go to Washington and ensure a Senate is under Democratic control.
BRACK: Unexpected death of J. Terry Gordon shocks Gwinnettians
By Elliott Brack | It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I found out last week of the unexpected death of J. Terry Gordon of Norcross. For the last 17 years, my offices have been adjacent to those of Terry’s certified public accounting practice in Technology Park. I usually would see and often talk with him nearly every day.
